After studying childcare and working as a nanny I thought that I was ready for parenthood. No one told me about the many sleep changes that babies go through. Its hard to keep up and figure it all out!
I battled my way through and found the right books to help. I wish I had Baby Sleep Consultant back then because it was hard work! I know what it is like trying to work out what will suit your family and who you should be listening to while also dealing with your own lack of sleep.
Things such as diet, sleep associations and routine are a just a few things that can impact and shape a baby’s sleep. I believe that sleep affects temperament, growth, development and a baby’s ability to learn – by providing your baby with the opportunity to sleep you are allowing them to reach their full potential.
Lack of sleep affects everyone in the family, not just baby. Creating healthy sleep habits means that the whole family is happier. With my study through Baby Sleep Consultants and drawing on my own experiences I can tailor a holistic approach to suit your baby’s needs and your own parenting style, so if you need help to figure out what is best for your child lets do it together.

“I felt confident as I already had quite a bit of knowledge on babies sleep, but was at the point I didn’t want to go down the trial and error path, I was too exhausted and didn’t have the time, I just needed a plan and some guidance which is exactly what I got. “Samantha if I could reach through the phone and kiss you I would! Lucy just slept 2 hour’s at lunch time, this is a first for her, she has never slept longer than 20 minutes in her 16 weeks on earth! I honestly thought he would never be able to break past the 25-30 minute thing!! His early morning wake ups have also significantly improved. We cannot believe this! I’m sooo happy to have him (me!) in a routine. I can now REST during his midday nap and it is SO so great!
“Thank you for all your help, it’s been amazing. It has had its ups and downs but overall, very well. I definitely feel more confident with having a plan and learning about the different methods of soothing was very helpful. Not to mention sticking to just one method of soothing and knowing it works has helped. Having a plan to follow to has made life less stressful and knowing that getting both of us out and about is not only good for me but also for Jackson gives me more motivation to do it every day. Having your support and the knowledge you gave us helped us get through the rough patches because we knew they were all part of the process and quite normal (it wasn’t something we were doing wrong). We changed our 2 year old to a ‘big bed’ about 6 weeks before contacting Samantha. (in hind sight we moved her too soon but she refused the cot so we had to stick it out).
She went from settling on her own and sleeping through most nights to not being able to settle without me in the room (coming out to see me every minute if I wasn’t standing in her line of sight) with multiple wake ups and difficult resettling overnight.
Samantha gave us a plan, which fitted with what I thought needed to happen but she gave the tools and motivation to follow through and be consistent. At the end of our week Anna was sleeping through most nights again and settling on her own when out to bed but still taking 30-40 minutes of grizzling to do so, on Samantha’s advice I kept consistent and another week later out of the blue she stopped fussing/grizzling/crying and fell asleep quickly and quietly! So much more peaceful and stressfree! Thank you”

“WOW we are getting some sleep again!! Never did we imagine that a new baby in the house would disrupt our toddlers sleep. We expected to be a little sleep deprived but could never prepare ourselves for what our 2 year old had in store for us. She went from being a perfect sleeper 7-7 no fuss child to a child we screamed for 3-4 hours kicking and hitting the walls woke anywhere up to 10 times a night screaming and decided that 5am was the new wake up time. We needed help and fast as the whole family was suffering. We had tried our own methods but got to caught up in the emotional side of things that usually we gave in and the toddler took control again.
Samantha gave us great ideas via email to use and provided us with feedback and reassurance that we were doing the right thing and when something wasn’t working so well gave us other ideas to try. I remember being so tired as I emailed her at the end of each night but I was determined to get our sleepy girl back again. Within 1.5 weeks we were already back to getting the sleep we needed and now after 2 weeks I feel like a whole new person with a totally different child! We can now put her to bed and leave the door open and she has stopped waking our baby. Phew I can’t believe we went through this for almost 3 months!
We were also having trouble with our 9 week old at the same time sleeping during the day. Samantha provided us also with a really good routine which he slipped into fantastically. Now at 3 months he has 3 day sleeps and sleeps up to 12 hours through the night.
My husband Luke and I can not thank you enough… as a shift worker he needs the kids to be getting good sleeps so he can to. Thank you so much!!!”
